TURTLE BAY, BRISTOL

Last night I went out for dinner and cocktails with a friend, before watching Years & Years perform at the Bristol O2 Academy.
After hearing my friends and family rave about Turtle Bay's Caribbean flavoured food and exotic cocktails, I knew we had to indulge ourselves.

First. we started with a 'Bahama Mama', which contained Koko Kanu, banana liqueur, pineapple juice and grenadine to give it the red hue. It was delicious! Not too strong, but it was definitely an adults drink!
One we downed this one, we went for a 'Tease Me' which was literally a dessert in a glass! White rum, Tia Maria, banana liqueur, cream, fresh banana and coconut filled this glass, and it was heaven. I could picture myself sitting on a white sand beach in the Caribbean, surrounded by coconut trees and the ocean..... enough of that daydream!

Then came my favourite time of the day - food! With incredible dishes to choose from, it was really hard to narrow it down to one! I went with the 'Double Dipped Steak', which was a grilled and marinated jerk steak, dribbled with a green seasoning, a sweet onion chutney, rustic sweet potato fries and a west Indian 'slaw. Yes, it tasted even better then it sounds!!!
I like my steaks medium, and it was cooked to perfection. Cooked, but still some blood seeping out into the gorgeous juices - it's making my mouth water just thinking about it!
The marinade gave the meat a spicy kick, and the green seasoning and onions topped it off to perfection.
The slaw was perfect, and the sweet potato fries were crunchy on the outside, soft on the outside and wonderfully sweet.
